🚫 Scam

Hey friends!

Oddly, it's a bit relief to share this... I almost got scammed yesterday. 😤

The scam message caught my attention. It was well written and cautioned me about a problem. If I wanted to avoid trouble, the organization that sent the message claimed they could help me. I hadn't gotten this type of communication before, so I carefully re-read the message...

Fortunately I realized it was a scam!

While I escaped potential danger, the situation saddened me.😥

Somewhere, there's a person who creatively thought of an idea to trick people.

Somewhere, there's an above-average writer who used their ability to do harm to others.

Somewhere, a person took time to coordinate a communications plan to steal personal information and use it for their own gain.

👉So much intention was used for harm! From anywhere in the world, this person or people, set out to impact strangers and violate their trust and abuse them. Who knows what the consequences might be for someone who falls for this scam.

I can't imagine what motivates a scammer to use their creativity and skills to harm people.

👉 Now, let's think about this scenario in a different light.

What could happen if this person thought of a creative idea to help people, instead?

What could happen if an above-average writer wrote a message of advocacy, instead?

What could happen if a person, anywhere in the world, coordinated a communications plan to solve a problem for strangers, instead?

Scammers know they won't fool everyone who gets their illicit messages. But they aren't discouraged and forge ahead to ensnare anyone who will fall for their tricks. ✨On the flip side... What if change-maker families were motivated to use their efforts to help others, even if they knew they wouldn't be 100% successful? What good could be multiplied if every change-maker kid was encouraged to try out new ideas even if their impact was small?

✨As we approach April 21st, I want to highlight the significance of World Creativity and Innovation Day. It's a UN-designated holiday that recognizes the importance of creativity and innovation in problem-solving and making positive changes in the world.

Engaging in creative activities as a change-maker family not only strengthens bonds but also teaches children valuable life skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and empathy.

By participating in activities that promote creativity and innovation, we can empower our change-maker children to make a difference in the world and inspire them to positively impact their own communities.

Creativity and innovation can be powerful tools for positive change.

Hey there,Reader ! It's MeiMei here this week! In today's newsletter I want to talk to you a bit about the idea of "opening your eyes." Something that I know many of us fall prey to is having "blinders" on during a busy or stressful season. We often focus on one thing -- which can be considered our end goal -- and that limits our distractions and keeps us from straying from our main task. I'm not implying that this is a bad thing whatsoever, because there truly are times when we need to focus...

Hi there Reader! It’s MeiMei here this week – it’s been a bit since I last wrote to you. A LOT has happened since then. In the past two weeks I’ve graduated high school and moved to the USA. 🎉Those are two pretty big milestones and they come with a lot of changes. My graduation was a meaningful experience to say the least. After attending Concordia International School Shanghai for 14 years, my graduation was both eagerly anticipated and reluctantly experienced. It’s hard to close a chapter...

Greetings Reader! In the midst of preparing for graduation and an international move, we've been taking a trip down memory lane. While cleaning out our game cabinet, we had a fun and interesting conversation about the board game "Life." It's been around for a long time, with updates and refreshed graphics. Game of Life is an American classic board game where players spin a wheel to move along a path of life events, such as education, career, marriage, and children. 👉The objective is to...
